CHICAGO (JGL) – Young Filipino Americans face a mental calisthenics that would put to the test the knowledge they accumulated in and of campus that has so far molded

their impressionable minds if they join the 2019 edition of English Essay Writing Contest sponsored by the Philippine Independence Week Committee 2019. The contest will be held on May 11, 2019 (Saturday) between 10 a.m. and 12 noon at EBG Systems, Suite 324, at 3525 W. Peterson at Chicago's north side.

Ms. Josefina “Jo” P. Abaya-Wee Sit, the perennial chair of this mind-wrenching exercise since 2002, has assured philamessenger.com that “whatever is written by the essayist [in this] contest period is a product of his/her writing skills, [and] nobody's.”

Ms. Abaya-Wee Sit said contestants will only learn of the topic of the essay contest at the “start of the contest period.”

She wants to make sure that the $300 that she will cough up from her own pocket will go to the most deserving winner of the first prize. It was Pinoy Newsmagazine that first reported that Ms. Abaya-Wee Sit donated the $300 top prize for the contest.
