Consul General Generoso D.G. Calonge called on U.S. Representative Michael John Gallagher to personally congratulate him on his first election victory to represent the 8th Congressional District of Wisconsin.
The two officials exchanged views on the current state of US-Philippines diplomatic and people-to-people relations, as well as common security concerns in view of the two countries’ mutual defense treaty.
Consul General Calonge also conveyed an invitation for the young lawmaker and member of the House Armed Services and Homeland Security Committees to join the bipartisan PH-US Friendship Caucus. The Caucus, established in 2005, will be relaunched in the 115th Congress with Representatives Bobby Scott of Virginia and Steve Chabot of Ohio as co-chairs. (PM)
